The third annual sari-sari store convention will be held at the World Trade Center in Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City on May 14 to 16 with entrepreneur-turned-senator Manny Villar.The senate president is the guest of honor at the big even, which expects nearly 15,000 sari-sari store owners in Metro Manila and Luzon.
Villar is popularly known as a self-made man, who was born poor in Tondo, Manila. By combining hardwork with perseverance he managed to get himself out of his poverty-stricken life.
He originaly sold shrimps in Divisoria and eventually became an expert in retailing. Recently, he has been named by Forbes Asia as one of the richest man in Asia.
Today, there are about 700,000 sari-sari stores across the nation. Approximately 490,000 are found in Metro Manila alone.
Sari-sari stores are the most common livelihood in the Philippines and the easiest business to put up.
The events intends to share mico-economic enterprise skills to its attendees. Hopefully, the participants can obtain gainful insights on how to improve their business and become success stories like Manny Villar.
